david 049208898b Set intf_name in route-bsd.c, the parts used by OS X. 
There are some other #ifdefs that are used on other platforms, in which
code intf_name might nto be set but will continue to be an empty string
as before.

libdnet

libdnet provides a simplified, portable interface to several low-level
networking routines, including network address manipulation, kernel
arp(4) cache and route(4) table lookup and manipulation, network
firewalling, network interface lookup and manipulation, IP tunnelling,
and raw IP packet and Ethernet frame transmission.
